Throwback Thursday - Dartmouth, NS - 1992 Top Mount Pumper

A 1992 Metalfab Top Mount Pumper delivered to the Dartmouth Fire Department is today's featured unit for Throwback Thursday.   This unit was one of two pumpers delivered to the Dartmouth Fire Department in 1992.

This top mounted pumper was mounted on a Ford CF8000 Single Axle Chassis.  The chassis featured a Ford 7.8L Ford 240 HP Diesel engine and an Allison MT643 Transmission.  Metalfab fabricated and installed a four man enclosed crew area mounted behind the chassis cab.

The pump for this unit was a 1050 IGPM Hale QSG Midship Pump.  The pump panel was in a top mount configuration.  The Foam System was a Foam Pro 2000.  The poly tank had a capacity of 500 Imperial Gallons of water.  It also had a foam cell of 10 Imperial Gallons and one foam cell of 30 Imperial Gallons.

The Aluminum Body featured high side compartments on the left side of the unit and low side compartments on the right side. 

Recent Deliveries - East Zorra - Tavistock, ON (Tavistock Station)

The Tavistock Station of the East Zorra - Tavistock Township Fire Department took Delivery of this Metalfab Tandem Pumper/Tanker on July 24, 2013.  This unit was the third unit purchased by the township but it was the first Metalfab unit at the Tavistock Station.

 

This tandem Pumper/Tanker was installed on a Freightliner M2 106 Four Door Chassis.  The chassis was equipped with a Cummins ISL 350 HP Diesel Engine and a Allison EVS 3000 Automatic Transmission.  The chassis was complete with Aluminum wheels and dual fender mounted air horns with dual lanyard controls overhead in the interior of the cab.

The pump on this unit was a Hale PSD 840 IGPM PTO Driven pump.  Where this was a PTO Driven pump, it had Pump and Roll Capability.  All piping was stainless steel and the pump panel was in a side mount configuration.  The Poly Water Tank had a capacity of 2,500 Imperial Gallons.  The truck was also equipped with a 10" Newton dump with Rotating and Telescopic chute and Two 4" Direct Tank Fills at the rear of the unit.



The extruded aluminum body featured a combination of high side and low side compartments on the
left side of the unit.  The right side of the unit had a combination of intermediate and low side compartments.  Rear Access to the main hose bed was achieved by a Zico Quic Ladder.  On the left side fender top a portable tank was stored in a manual drop down rack.  The right side fender top had a manual drop down ladder rack.

Throwback Thursday - Oromocto, NB - 1990 Metalfab Custom Pumper/Tanker

Today's featured truck for Throwback Thursday is a 1990 Metalfab Custom Pumper/Tanker manufactured for the Oromocto Fire Department. 

 

The chassis for this build was a 1990 Spartan Gladiator MFD Custom Chassis.  The engine was a Detroit Diesel 8V-92TA 450 HP Diesel Engine.  The Transmission was an Allison HT-741 Automatic Transmission. 

The Aluminum Body featured High Side Compartments on the Left Side of the unit and Intermediate height compartments on the right side of the unit.  A manual drop down ladder rack was installed on the right side fender top.

This truck was equipped with a Hale QSMG Midship Pump.  The pump had a capacity of 1500 IGPM.  The poly tank for this unit had a capacity of 1500 Imperial Gallons of water and 100 Imperial Gallons of Foam.  Flowmeters were installed on all 1-3/4" discharges and the monitor discharge.


In recent years, this unit has had several modifications and is currently still in service with the Oromocto Fire Department.

Recent Deliveries - Murray River, PE

On June 27, 2013, a new pumper was delivered to the Murray River, PE Fire Department.  This unit was built as a Metalfab Demo Unit. 



The side mount pumper body was mounted on a Freightliner M2 106 Four Door Chassis.  The chassis was equipped with a Cummins ISC - 350 HP Engine and an Allison EVS 3000 Automatic Transmission.


The pump on this unit was a Hale QFLO 1050 IGPM Midship pump.  The truck also had a Foam Pro 2001 Foam System installed.  The water tank on the unit had a capacity of 1,000 Imperial Gallons.



The extruded aluminum body consisted of high side compartments on the left side of the unit and low side compartments on the right side.  A portable tank was stored in a manual drop down rack located on the right side fender top.  Ladder storage was located in a slide way in the main hose bed of the unit.

Throwback Thursday - Lisbon, NH - 1998 Metalfab Pumper

This week's Throwback Thursday featured unit is the first unit Metalfab manufactured for New Hampshire.  This Metalfab Pumper was delivered to the Lisbon, NH Fire Department on July 15, 1998.

This pumper on a Freightliner FL-80 chassis was equipped with a
Hale QSMG150 Single Stage Pump and a Hale Foam Master 3.3 foam system.  The poly tank had a capacity of 1,000 US Gal. of water and 20 US Gal. of foam.

The extruded aluminum body featured high side compartments on the left side of the body and low side compartments on the right side.  All Compartments were fitted with Roll Up Doors. 

Recent Deliveries - Hartland, NB

Metalfab would like to thank the Hartland Fire Department for their purchase of a new Metalfab Pumper unit.  This truck is the fifth Metalfab Fire Truck purchased by the Department.

The single axle pumper is mounted on a Freightliner M2 112 chassis.  The chassis is equipped with a 345 HP Cummins ISL engine and a Allison Automatic Transmission.  The chassis came complete with polished aluminum wheels.



The Hartland Pumper was equipped with A Hale QMAX 1500 IGPM midship pump and a Foam Pro
1600 Foam System.  Each 6" side suction port was equipped with a Electric MIV valve.  A 5" discharge was located on the right side pump panel.  The poly tank had a capacity of 1200 Imp. Gal. of water and 20 Imp. Gal. of foam.  There was also a 10" Newton Dump with a 36" telescopic chute and a 4" direct tank fill installed at the rear of the unit.

The Single Axle Metalfab Pumper Body had high side compartments on the left side of the unit and had intermediate height compartments on the right side of the unit.  The truck was equipped with AMDOR Roll Up Doors.  Ladders were stored on a Zico Electric ladder rack on the right side of the apparatus.  A portable tank was stored in a rear access compartment through the tank.  There was storage for a 6" suction hose in a rear access compartment on each side of the tank tee. 

Throwback Thursday - Newburg, Maine - 1999 Metalfab Tandem Axle Tanker/Pumper

This 1998 Metalfab tandem axle tandem tanker/pumper that was manufacturer for the Newburg, Maine Fire Department is this week's featured unit.

The Freightliner FL-80 chassis was equipped with a 300 HP CAT
3126 Diesel engine and a Fuller manual transmission.  The unit included a Hale QFLO 1,000 USGPM midship pump and a 4,000 US Gal. Poly water tank.  A 10" Newton dump with a 36" telescopic chute and a 4" direct tank fill were installed on the rear of the apparatus.

The body featured low side compartments on each side of the unit. 

Throwback Thursday - Cornerbrook, NL - 1998 Metalfab Pumper/Rescue

This week's featured truck for Throwback Thursday is a 1998 Metalfab Pumper/Rescue delivered to the Corner Brook, NL Fire Department on June 19, 1998.

 

This unit was a combination Pumper/Rescue.  The unit featured an International 4900 chassis
and was equipped with a Hale QSG75 midship pump with a rating of 625 IGPM.  The water tank on this unit had a capacity of 250 Imp. Gal.

The extruded aluminum body featured high side compartments on each side.  The center portion of the truck was a walk in rescue style configuration.  In the interior of the truck was interior storage along with 2 SCBA seats.

Recent Deliveries - Cross Roads, PE

The Cross Roads, PE Fire Department took delivery of their new Metalfab Pumper on April 30, 2013.  This was the fifth This four door International 7500 chassis featured a MaxxForce 10 350 HP engine and an Allison automatic transmission.

 

T
he pumper was equipped with a Hale QMAX 1250 IGPM midship pump and a FoamPro 2001 foam system.  The poly tank had a capacity of 800 Imp. Gal of water and 20 Imp. Gal. of foam.  The unit had a booster hose reel located in the rear compartment.


The truck was equipped with a Federal EQ2B siren and a Federal LED warning light package.  The
truck had a 5 KW PTO generator that supplied power to 2 - 500 W telescopic flood lights, a electric cord reel, and various outlets.


 
The extruded aluminum body had high side compartments on the left side of the unit and on the right side of the unit there were intermediate height compartments.  The body utilized flush mount doors for the side compartments and a rollup door on the rear compartment.



Ladders for the truck are stored on a manual drop down ladder mounted on the right side fender
top.  A portable tank was stored in a rear access tube through the tank.

Throwback Thursday - Summerside, PE - 1996 Metalfab Custom Pumper

The Summerside, PE Fire Department's 1996 Metalfab Custom Pumper is today's featured truck for Throwback Thursday. 

This Metalfab Pumper body was mounted on a Spartan Metro-Star SFD custom chassis.  The chassis was equipped with a Cummins C8.3 L 250 HP Diesel engine and a Allison MD 3060P Automatic Transmission.


The top mount pumper was equipped with a Hale QSG125 midship pump and had a 800 Imp. Gal.
poly water tank.

The extruded aluminum body had high side compartments on the left side and low side compartments on the right side of the unit.  Ladders were stored in a standard ladder rack on the right side of the body.

Recent Deliveries - Caribou, NS

The Caribou District Fire Department in Caribou, NS, took delivery of their new Metalfab Pumper on April 19, 2013.  This unit is the fourth Metalfab Apparatus purchased by the department.

The Top Mount Pumper Body is mounted on an International 4400 four door chassis.  The chassis has a 330 HP engine and a Allison automatic transmission.


The pump on this truck is a Waterous CSU 120 IGPM Midship Pump.  The foam system is a FoamPro 2002 dual foam tank system with electric pump pick ups for foam for each foam tank.  The poly water tank has a capacity of 800 Imp. Gallons of water and two foam cells with a capacity of 20 Imp. Gallons each.  The truck features two 1-3/4" speedlays located beneath the walk way for the top mount panel.  This allows for ease of access and ease of reloading the hose beds.

The body is an extruded aluminum body with intermediate height compartments on each side of the unit.  A combination of roll up and flush mount doors were used on this unit.  The truck has manual drop down racks for both the ladders and the portable truck.

Throwback Thursday - Aylesford, NS - 1996 Metalfab Custom Pumper

This 1996 Metalfab Custom Pumper manufactured for the Aylesford, NS Fire Department is Today's Throwback Thursday featured Truck.

The chassis for this pumper was a Spartan Custom Chassis.  The chassis had a Cummins C8.3-300, 300 HP Diesel Engine.  The transmission was an Allison MD 3060 P Automatic Transmission.



The extruded aluminum body had high side compartments on the left side of the chassis and low side
compartments on the right side of the chassis.  The doors on this unit were all flush mounted doors.  There was a manual drop down ladder rack and three suction hose trays mounted on the right side of the unit.

The Metalfab custom Pumper was equipped with a Hale QSG 1050 IGPM Midship pump with a Foam Pro 2001 foam system.  In place of the standard crosslays mounted above the pump, 1-1/2" speedlays mounted at the frame height forward of the pump were utilized.  The poly tank had a capacity of 1000 Imp. Gal. of water and 20 Imp. Gal. of Foam.
